Our Teachers

 Our instructors are dedicated, skilled professionals and love sharing their knowledge and passion for dance with their students. Denise Buote Dance Studio offers preschool combination classes, tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, hip hop, and more.

MaryKate Clark

Miss MaryKate is a School Counselor at Trinity Catholic Academy in Brockton. She has been a DBDS dancer since the age of 2 and continues to dance in the adult classes while teaching. She studied ballet, tap and jazz. In college, when she wasn’t busy studying for her degree in Biology and Psychology, she was a competitive cheerleader for UMASS Boston. When not on the dance floor, Miss MaryKate coaches figure skating and loves playing with her dog Rosie. She want wait to dance with you!

Brittany Purtell

Brittany has been dancing since the age of 2, receiving training from Lisa’s Dance Studio in Quincy MA, and Paula Coffey Dance Center in Bridgewater MA. Brittany has competed in hip-hop, tap, pom, and jazz, as well as learned skills in ballet, lyrical, and pointe. Brittany has been teaching since 2014 instructing competition teams and recreational classes, holding technique workshops throughout the year, and teaching adult drop-in classes.

 

When she’s not at the studio, Brittany is a social worker and therapist. Through this education, she applies a trauma-informed approach to each of her classes. Brittany has choreographed a viral concept video on Buzzfeed, received a a grant to teach hip-hop to underprivileged children, and was featured in the July 2018 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine for her work. Brittany has received choreography awards for her concept pieces and is CLI Certified.

Sarah Galvin

Miss Sarah had been a Denise Buote dancer since 2003 and began teaching at the studio in 2019. She studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Pointe. Miss Sarah has volunteered countless hours at the studio assisting with the same teachers she works with today. Sarah is currently studying Math and Education at Bridgewater State University with hopes to become a high school math teacher!

Kelsey Kourafas

Miss Kelsey began dancing at the age of 3 at The Gold School in Brockton. She trained and competed in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and contemporary. She has been teaching all ages since 2015. After a few years off from the dance world she is so excited to be back in the studio doing what she loves. When Kelsey is not teaching dance she is a behavior analyst at Cardinal Cushing Centers in Hanover working with students with a variety of developmental disabilities. She is so excited to be joining the DBDS team!

Simone Harris

Miss Simone is a dancer / choreographer , who have been dancing her entire life ! She has danced for reality stars from MTVs making the band and VH1s love and hiphop. She’s a CNA and continuing her Education in health care. Throughout her many years in dance Simone has always gave back to the dance community through free dance clinics, and assisting in local dance/ cheerleading programs , after taking some time off to be a mom Simone has regained her love and passion for hiphop and is thrilled to help inspire and motivate the young and talented minds here at DBDS!

Dee Joseney

Miss Dee has been dancing since the womb! Coach enjoyed learning and trying out all dance genres but has found herself most passionate about Hip Hop & Afrobeats based dance. She has been coaching a high school dance team in Mattapan by the name of “Inferno” since 2014 who also landed their first MSCAO Championship win this past year! Creativity and authenticity is at the heart of everything she does so when it’s not being expressed through dance, coach also thrives in spoken work poetry, professional online shopping and being an amateur MUA. She is excited to embark on more opportunities where she can help other young people fall in love with dance the same way she did before she even knew her name. She is overjoyed to be apart of the team this year!

Our Classes

Our classes are divided according to age and training level, and we can meet the needs of young dancers of any age with our beginner through advanced level classes. The environment in our classes is energetic, positive, welcoming and high energy. We love to dance, and we want to share that passion with you.

    We pride ourselves on knowing that each student is unique and understanding their individual personalities, learning styles, and dance training goals so that they can train and grow into the best dancers they can be.  


    Our instructors are dedicated skilled professionals and love sharing their knowledge and passion for dance with their students. We offer a variety of courses for different age groups and provide dance instruction for ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop.


    Our air conditioned dance studio provides an upper and lower studio with a total dance space of 2500 square feet—the latest in audio equipment, fully mirrored walls and ample parking. Here, we have it all!

  • Can you tell me more about your classes and teaching?

    Attendance

    Pupils are enrolled for the full school year, from September to June. There is no substitute for regular attendance to ensure steady progress. There will be no refunds or allowances for absences.


    Recital

    All students will be expected to participate in the Annual DBDS Recital, hosted at the end of the season. This performance is a vital part of a dancer’s development.


    Cancellations

    Class cancellations due to weather conditions or other circumstances will be posted on our Facebook & Instagram pages. Impacted students will also receive notification through our email system.


    Visitors

    Parents or other visitors are not permitted in the classroom while class is in progress.  This is for the benefit of our dancers and ensures that our instructors have the full attention of the class while it is in session.
