We’re excited to officially introduce Kelsey Cook as the new Studio Director of Denise Buote Dance Studio!
For many of our dancers and families, Miss Kelsey is already a familiar face. She has been part of the DBDS community for more than five years, and her connection to dance — and to Brockton — goes back much further.
As she steps into this new role, Kelsey is looking forward to building on the foundation of Denise Buote Dance Studio while creating new opportunities for our dancers to learn, grow, build confidence, form friendships, and discover their own love of dance.
A Brockton native, Kelsey began dancing at just 3 years old at The Gold School in Brockton. Growing up, she trained and competed in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and contemporary dance.
Dance remained an important part of her life, eventually bringing her to Denise Buote Dance Studio as an instructor. Over the past five years, she has become an important part of the DBDS community, getting to know our dancers and families while sharing her experience and love of dance with her students.
Taking on the role of Studio Director brings that journey full circle — giving Kelsey the opportunity to lead a dance studio in the same community where her own love of dance began.
Kelsey’s experience working with children extends well beyond the dance classroom.
She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), with a professional focus on helping children learn, grow, and build confidence.
That experience plays an important role in her approach to teaching. Kelsey is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging, and inclusive studio environment where children can feel comfortable being themselves, learn at their own pace, and feel proud of their individual accomplishments.
“Dance has been part of my life since I was 3 years old, so having the opportunity to now lead a studio in the community where my own dance journey began is incredibly special. As both a mom and a BCBA, I’m passionate about creating an environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, are excited to learn and know that their individual successes are celebrated. I’m excited to continue building on the DBDS community and create a place where dancers and their families truly feel at home.”
As a mom of three young children, Kelsey also understands dance from a parent's perspective.
She knows how important it is for parents to feel confident about the environment they choose for their children — and for children to have a place they are genuinely excited to return to each week.
That family-focused perspective is an important part of her vision for DBDS: creating a studio where dancers can grow their skills while families feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the community around them.
As Studio Director, Kelsey plans to build upon the foundation Denise Buote Dance Studio has established in Brockton while continuing to move the studio forward.
She is joined by a team of instructors who collectively bring more than 100 years of dance and teaching experience to DBDS, with backgrounds spanning a variety of dance styles, levels, and areas of professional expertise.
Together, the DBDS team is committed to helping dancers develop their technique, confidence, creativity, friendships, and love of dance in a positive and supportive environment.
We’re excited for this next chapter at Denise Buote Dance Studio and everything the new season has in store for our dancers and families.
DBDS offers dance classes for children beginning at age 2, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tumbling, and more.
Whether your child is stepping into a dance studio for the very first time or looking for a place to continue growing as a dancer, there’s a place for them at DBDS.
